Pale, waterfall-like streams descend through a golden landscape in “Free fall” by Birthe Villaume. White and cool blue-grey passages interrupt warm ochre and sandy fields, gathering into soft strokes below. Above the landscape, a pale-blue sky opens with delicate, hazy movements of white and cream.
Dark marks along the upper ledges suggest rocky outcrops, while narrow black lines run between the light streams. Broad brushstrokes alternate with fine traces and broken fields of colour, giving the forms direction while allowing them to dissolve into one another. The open sky offers a quiet counterpoint to the movement in the lower section.
