Maria Pedersen.

I am a creative self-taught woman of 42 years, who lives in Skagen, with my husband and our 2 children. We are a creative family, where both parents practice art, which of course has rubbed off on our girls, and I love everything about it. I have been painting for a number of years, it is my form of meditation, and here I go completely into myself while the motifs jump out in front of me.

I paint modern portraits, where I convey expression and emotions, while at the same time I try to unite detail painting with the abstract, in a way that makes it beautiful to look at. I love to immerse myself in the details and bring these expressions to life, while at the same time I love the process of working with the background, which slowly grows into the portrait and makes the 2 inseparable.

I find inspiration in people, I love to observe people in interaction with each other, or just in a reflective moment. In addition, I also find great inspiration in nature and light - this is seen in my backgrounds where different color plays are expressed.

My paintings are mixed media with acrylic and oil or pure oil. They are all painted from scratch, on quality canvases and with highly pigmented artist quality paint.

I am happy every time someone falls in love with one of my paintings and am proud of all the paintings I already have hanging around Danish homes. I also hope to be able to please you with one of my works.
