Profile: Karin Holmström
I explore in my creation – explore what it´s like being human, constantly developing, not giving until the right feeling is there.
I knew at preschool that I had the gift. Back then, I was not brave enough to listen to my inner self, controlled by the outside world's expectations.
Karin Holmström's art is highly appreciated by a wide audience. The art has many layers, not only in colors but also symbolic and in the picture. She paints by feeling and the picture take shape during time. Sometimes she finds her symbols appear to often, then she damps them down and let something new come forth. Her female characters in different situations and moods, has become well-known in Sweden. As well as her elephants and variety of wildlife animals.
Karins journey is exciting to follow, she has sold well both nationally and
internationally. Karin also works a lot with charity that is close to her heart, like save the big animals, help our environement and against cancer. Karin lost her father 2009 in cancer, and it took her on the path of working in art.
