Charlotte Olsen is a Copenhagen-based painter who works between the tactile and the atmospheric.
Using acrylic and metallic pigments as her primary materials, she explores texture, light and the weight of darkness. Her works are not images of anything — they are places in themselves.
The edge of light, the edge of night, the quiet moment just before darkness falls completely still. Through layers of deep black, oxidized bronze and warm gold, surfaces emerge that contain both heaviness and glow.
Each painting is slowly built up through paint flowing together, refined brushwork and reworking. The surface bears traces of the process — it is alive, raw and sensual. The metallic pigments ensure that the work never stands still. It changes with the light in the room, with the time of day and with your own movement.
Charlotte is interested in restraint as a force. Few colors. Strong compositions. Paintings that function as quiet, sensual landscapes for the mind — without imagining anything literal.
All works are original, signed and come with a certificate of authenticity. They are all created in the studio in Copenhagen, Denmark.
