Warm shades of peach, pink and ochre spread beneath a pale, open sky in “A summer day” by Rie Brødsgaard. A simple horizon line divides the painting, while the soft areas of colour below merge into one another, suggesting a landscape bathed in summer light.
Dark, finely branching forms interrupt the pale surfaces and may resemble shrubs or small trees. They emerge along the edges and near the centre, creating contrast and offering points of focus. Vertical trails of paint, subtle patterns and small blue-green accents add depth to the restrained palette.
The painting balances landscape and abstraction. Open areas bring calm, while the varied surface marks invite closer exploration. The wide 120 × 90 cm format emphasises the breadth of the view and gives the warm colours space without defining a particular place.
