Two figures sit opposite one another at a chessboard in “Moving Slow” by Kathrine Stone. One holds a small cup with a pale trail of steam, while the other, wearing a white hat, rests a hand near the face. Their slightly forward-leaning postures focus attention on the game at the small table.
Large organic shapes in pink, cream, turquoise and blue surround the scene. On the right, a dark tree trunk rises through a deep blue-green area, while a small yellow circle brightens the upper left. The small details of the figures and chessboard contrast with the background’s broad, simple fields of colour.
The title and quiet activity may suggest slowing down and making room for concentration and companionship. The wide 70 × 35 cm format allows the colours to unfold around the two players, giving the everyday scene a playful, almost dreamlike quality.
